Righteousness is by faith, not by faith.
Meaning: Our faith does not make us righteous; rather, hearing from God that we are righteous because of Him gives birth to our faith.
He is the cause of your faith, not you.
Jesus is the author and finisher of faith, and faith comes by hearing the word of God. (Hebrews 12:2; 1 Corinthians 1:30; Romans 10:17).
