Romans 9:33, 10:11 – Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.
We’ve been told—and continue to be told—that “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame” refers to those who have chosen to believe in Him, and that this “believing in Him” is a choice each person must make and continue making. The central claim of this interpretation is that people are given free will to choose belief and must exercise that freedom by choosing to believe in Jesus, or else suffer torment forever. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, this is a straw man argument and a false gospel. Why? Because it places causality in the hands of sinful man, thereby rendering the cross of Christ of no effect. Put another way, if man must choose to believe, then salvation is caused not by God but by man’s response to God—again rendering the cross conceptually of no effect. (Salvation took place within the death and resurrection of Jesus, not through our belief in the death and resurrection. If you claim it comes through our decision to believe, then it didn't come within the death and resurrection of Jesus. You can't have it both ways.)
It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, not because you chose to believe in Him. Upon hearing this from God faith comes FROM GOD. Truth is truth whether you believe it or not.
